Places: The Seven Devils

Over the years, many of the trees have been harvested and the road straightened out a bit. But it's still a place where waves crash against cliffs, the wind blows hard and rain comes down in buckets. Massive storms sweep in from the Pacific and it's not unheard of to get over 10 inches of rain in 24 hours. Shoot, your typical water-reducing shower head can't even do that.

A few miles down the coast, Cape Blanco once recorded gusts of over 179 mph. How much over? Well, nobody knows for sure because the equipment tore away from its mounts and forever became part of the ocean.

You think your tent is waterproof? Yeah, well, so did we. You think your boots can keep your feet dry? Good luck with that. Despite the challenges, we can't think of a better place to test our gear. And ourselves.
