On the Oregon coast south of Coos Bay, hard against the Pacific Ocean, was a wilderness the early lumberjacks called the Seven Devils. Rugged hills, steep canyons, and hellish weather were barriers in a place where the muscle of man and animal was tested to the limit. Only the best could beat the Devils.
